A popular Hudson Valley brewery took home a medal from the annual Great American Beer Festival this year.

The annual Great American Beer Festival (GABF) took place in Denver, Colorado from Thursday, September 20 through Saturday, September 22. While it's also a beer sampling festival, breweries from all over the country enter their beers to be judged by a panel of professional judges. This year, only 3 breweries from New York won awards and only one of those breweries are located in the Hudson Valley.

Captain Lawrence Brewing Co. in Elmsford, part of Westchester County, was the bigger winner for the local region. They took home a bronze medal for their Flaming Fury, which is a Fruited American-Style Sour Ale. The bronze medal signifies that "A fine example of the style that may vary slightly from style parameters and/or have minor deviations in taste, aroma or appearance," as written on the site of the Great American Beer Festival.
