An Orange County man was jailed on a large bail amount for allegedly driving around the Hudson Valley drunk and in possession of a stolen gun and drugs.

New York State Police arrested 28-year-old Joshua S. Mendez of Newburgh for criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of stolen property, felonies, driving while intoxicated, criminal possession of marijuana, misdemeanors and other undisclosed vehicle and traffic law violations.

After a traffic stop for speeding, Mendez was found to be driving while intoxicated and in possession of a stolen Sig Sauer, .380 caliber, pistol and marijuana, police say.

Mendez was arraigned in the City of Newburgh Court and remanded to the Orange County Jail on $75,000 bail.

Awful grades for local hospitals, tragedies, and a police standoff tops this week in Hudson Valley news.
