Police: Open Bottle of Whiskey Found in Vehicle Following Crash

A Connecticut man was arrested following a crash which left one person injured in Putnam County. 

On February 2, 2018, at approximately 2:12 a.m. Putnam County Sheriff's were dispatched for the report of an unconscious female inside a vehicle, in the Town of Southeast.

When deputies arrived on the scene, EMS personnel were already attending to the 22 year-old female, who was in the rear passenger seat of a 2004 Toyota Camry. Deputies noticed that the rear passenger door was severely dented and the window had been shattered.

The driver, identified as Maxwell J. Archer and another female, who was later identified as being the front seat passenger were standing outside the vehicle.

An investigation revealed that Archer had a BAC of .12%. Archer told deputies that he had struck a tree somewhere on Route 312, but could not say exactly where. Archer told deputies he called 911 to report the unconscious female.

The 22 year old female was revived at the scene and was taken to Putnam Hospital Center complaining of neck and head pain.

An open bottle of whiskey was recovered from inside the vehicle.

Archer was charged with two counts of Driving While Intoxicated, Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Auto Accident, and was issued a ticket for the Open Container of Alcohol.
