The officer sustained injuries during the struggle. 

On March 7, 2018 at approximately 2:39 a.m. the city of Newburgh Police Department received a Shot Spotter activation for two rounds being fired inside Delano-Hitch Park, directly across from the Newburgh Armory.

A City of Newburgh officer stopped a male, later identified as 19-year old Newburgh resident Tyliek Bush, in the area of 313 South William Street after Mr. Bush was observed leaving the area while placing his hand in his waistband area.

As the the officer approached Bush, Bush attempted to reach into his waistband area. Following a struggle, the officer, along with another officer and his K9 partner were able to take Bush into custody.

Bush was found to be in possession of a black .22 caliber revolver with a defaced serial number.

The officer sustained injuries to his shoulder and knee during the incident.

Bush was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon second-degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon third-degree, and Resisting Arrest.

Bush was arraigned in the City of Newburgh Court earlier today. No further information is available at this time.
