Police say a man that was speeding in Putnam County was found to be in possession of over $6,000 worth of marijuana.

Town of Kent Police on patrol on Hill and Dale Road observed a car speeding in the opposition direction. The officer stopped the driver, 23-year-old Nicholas DeCuffa, of Kent, on Lake Shore Drive. The officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car.

When questioned about the smell Decuffa allegedly handed the officer a small bag of weed that he retrieved from his glove box. Police say a further investigation led to the discovery of 2.25 pounds of marijuana located behind the passenger seat. Police say the pot has a street value of over $6,000.

Decuffa was charged with 2nd-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony. He was arraigned at Kent Court and ordered to reappear on March 15th.
