A man who was arrested for driving while intoxicated in the Hudson Valley was allegedly later found to be hiding heroin on him.

Wednesday around 3:30 p.m., State Police stopped a 2000 Dodge on State Route 17 in the Town of Mamakating for multiple vehicle and traffic violations. After detecting an odor of marijuana the operator, Duane A. Norman, 51, of Brooklyn was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

Police say aprobable cause search of Norman revealed that he had approximately 1.8 ounces of raw heroin buried down his pants.

Norman was arrested and processed at the State Police Middletown barracks for criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, tampering with physical evidence, and driving while intoxicated.

Norman was arraigned in the Town of Mamakating Court and remanded to Sullivan County Jail on no bail.
