The Columbia County man was arrested following an 8-month long investigation. 

On March 13, 2018 State Police from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested Keith D. Benson, 47, of New Lebanon.

Three different incidents were discovered in which Benson had inappropriate sexual contact with a child less than 13-years of age.

The State Police in conjunction with the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office, the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office, and the Pittsfield Police Department conducted an eight-month investigation which led to the arrest of Benson.

Benson was charged with Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, class A-II felony, Criminal Sex Act first-degree, three counts Sexual Abuse first-degree, all class D felonies, and three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Benson was arraigned in the Town of Claverack Court and remanded to Columbia County Jail without bail.

Benson is scheduled to return to court March, 22, 2018.
