Police are hoping you can help as they investigate a suicide from the Bear Mountain Bridge.

On Saturday, New York State Police at Cortlandt and New York State Park Police responded to the area of the Bear Mountain Bridge in the Town of Cortlandt regarding a suspicious vehicle report.

An investigation at the scene revealed that the vehicle was abandoned by a person who then jumped from the mid-span of the Bear Mountain Bridge Friday morning around 7:30 a.m., police say.

A State Police helicopter and a State Police K9 unit also responded to assist. On Sunday, the person was found floating in the Hudson River, just north of the bridge.

The person's name, age, or gender won't be released until the identity is confirmed. The person was removed from the water by the Fort Montgomery Fire Department Marine Unit and taken from the scene to the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Any witnesses who may have noticed anything suspicious or unusual in the area of the bridge on Friday morning are asked at contact the State Police at Cortlandt at 914-737-7171.
