Police are warning the public and hoping for help after a number of cars were broken into in Dutchess County.

New York State Police, with the assistance of the Town of East Fishkill Police Department, are currently investigating several motor vehicle break-ins which occurred in the area of Brodie Road sometime during the overnight hours on February 28 into the early morning hours on March 1.

According to East Fishkill police, a number of neighboring towns have also seen an increase in thefts from unlocked cars in driveways.

To avoid having your car broken into, authorities remind everyone to always keep cars locked and remove valuables. Keeping outside lighting on may also prevent your home from being targeted by thieves, police say.
