The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office is investigating a serious two-car crash that occurred Wednesday morning.

At approximately 7:00 a.m. deputies responded to Route 199 in the Town of Milan for a report of a serious crash.

Upon arrival, deputies observed it to be a two-car crash with one ejection.

A preliminary investigation revealed that 1999 Subaru Legacy, operated by Steven Destefano, 35 of New Windsor, was traveling eastbound on 199 when he crossed the center line and struck a westbound 2015 Nissan Versa, operated by Andrew Pierce, 48 of Pine Plains.

Destefano was ejected from his vehicle and airlifted to Albany Medical Center with serious, but not believed to be life-threatening injuries.

Pierce was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital with minor injuries.

Evidence shows that Destefano was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
