Police Investigate Bomb Scare at Hudson Valley High School

Students at a high school in Ulster County had to be evacuated following reports of a bomb.

On Thursday morning, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported bomb scare at Onteora High School. Students and faculty were safely evacuated.

Authorities investigated the school and determined the school was never in any danger. The Sheriff’s Office reports that all of the students were allowed to reenter the building Thursday afternoon.

The bomb scare came exactly a week after an Ulster County golf course was evacuated due to a bomb threat. An employee at the Woodstock Golf Club on Mill Hill Road in Woodstock told police a bomb threat was phoned in.

The golf course was evacuated and traffic was re-routed. After three hours of searching, officials didn’t find any traces of a bomb.

Early in 2016, a number of Hudson Valley schools saw threats of violence.

In March, a bomb threat was called into Maple Hill Elementary School. The Orange County school received a number of other threats. Also, on Jan. 4, State Police charged a 9-year-old with making a terrorist threat at the school.

According to Town of Wallkill Police, a male caller phoned in bomb threats at Monhagen Middle School on Jan. 20 and at William A. Carter Elementary School on Jan. 12.
