A Hudson Valley man and woman were arrested after they allegedly fled police. The man is also accused of injuring an officer.

On Thursday around midnight, City of Newburgh police received a call about a large fight that involved a gun in the area of Wisner Avenue. Police were also told that the suspects with the gun were walking towards Broadway.

Responding officers noticed two cars leaving a building on Wisner Avenue. Both cars allegedly fled when police tried to pull them over.

One car was stopped on Little Britain Road. The driver, 30-year-old Heather Aleman of Middletown, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, a felony.

The other car was stopped on Lake Driver. After being pulled over, the driver, 27-year-old Lamont McDonald of Newburgh, is accused of fleeing on foot.

He was arrested after a brief foot chase and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both felonies, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and assault of a police officer and aggravated unlicensed operation, misdemeanors.

One officer was injured by McDonald, police say. The officer’s injuries weren’t released.
