A Putnam County man is facing multiple felonies including attempted murder.  

On October 22, at approximately 1:35 a.m., State Troopers, along with members of the Putnam County Sheriff's and Village of Brewster Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing at El Pueblo Restaurant and Lounge on Main Street.

The investigation indicated that Celso N. Cantoral-Cruz, age 29, of Brewster, stabbed the victim in the abdomen outside the restuarant and fled on foot.

The victim, a 23-year-old Brewster resident, remains in critical condition at Danbury Hospital.

With the assistance of the Putnam County Sheriff's, Cantoral-Cruz was located inside his Main Street residence.

He was charged with Attempted Murder second-degree, Assault first-degree, and Criminal Possession of Weapon fourth-degree.

He was arraigned and remanded to Putnam County Jail in lieu of $250,000 cash bail, or $500,000 bond.
