A young couple from the Hudson Valley is accused of driving with a suspended license, with an 11-month-old baby, drugs and a loaded handgun in the car.

On Friday, New York State Police from Wurtsboro stopped a 1995 Jeep Cherokee on Wurtsboro Mountain Rd by Dogwood Loop South. While interviewing the driver, 24-year-old Zachary Nevin of Bloomingburg, he allegedly told troopers that he was driving with a suspended license. Police verified the claim with the DMV.

As police searched the car, they found a loaded handgun, several prescription medications and packaging for heroin .

A 17-year-old female from Bloomingburg and her 11-month old daughter were both in the car, police say.

Nevin and the 17-year-old were charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class C Felony, endangering the welfare of a child and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanors.

Both were arraigned before Town of Mamakating Town Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $30,000 bail.
