A man who sexually abused a child and attempted to sexually abuse another was found hiding in the Hudson Valley.

On April 24, Saugerties police learned 49-year-old Dennis R. Fellows, a level 3 sex offender, allegedly left his residence at the Wenton Motel in Saugerties and failed to notify the New York State Sex Offender Registry.

An investigation determined Fellows failed to register his new address within 10 days, as all sex offenders are required to do.

On Wednesday, Fellows was located by Saugerties detectives in Saugerties. He was arrested and charged with failure to register or report a change of address.

In 2011, Fellows sexually abused a 9-year-old girl and attempted to sexually abuse a 13-year-old girl, according to the New York State Sex Offenders database. He was sentenced to 15 months in jail.

Fellows was arraigned in the Town of Saugerties Justice Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $2,500.

Level-3 sex offenders are considered to have the highest risk of a repeat offense and are considered the greatest risk to the public.
