Another police officer said the Hudson Valley woman accused of murdering her fiance during a kayak trip admitted she pulled the plug on his kayak.

Orange County District Attorney’s Office alleged that Angelika Graswald took out the plug in 46-year-old Vincent Viafore’s kayak, allowing it to fill up with water. She also allegedly moved the Poughkeepsie man’s paddle away from him as he was drowning in the 46-degree Hudson River on April 19, 2005.

Officials believe Graswald’s motive was that she would receive $250,000 as the main recipient in Viafore’s life insurance policies.

Graswald has pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

Aniello Moscato, senior investigator with the New York State Police took the stand Monday during a pre-trial hearing. Moscato said that on April 29,2015 he and two other investigators met with Graswald on Bannermann’s Island, the site where Graswald was rescued 10 days prior.

Moscato said that Graswald spoke alone with investigator Don DeQuarto and admitted she took the plug out of her fiance's kayak

ABC News reports Officer Stephen Pedetti also took the stand on Monday. Pedetti said Graswald was very calm and “emotionless” after she was rescued.

Monday’s claims came during a Huntley hearing, a court proceeding about statements that prosecutors allege the accuser made. The hearing is expected to continue Tuesday.
