An Ulster County woman lost her life after losing control of her vehicle on the snow covered roadway. 

On Monday, at approximately 2:18 p.m. a 2002 Kia, operated by Barbara Hyde, 74 of Highland, N.Y. was traveling west on State Route 28 in the Town of Shandaken.

Hyde lost control of her vehicle on the snow covered roadway and crossed in the eastbound lane striking a Ulster County Area Transit Bus.

Hyde was deceased at the scene, and her passenger was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

The operator of the bus was not injured and there were no passengers on the bus at the time of the crash.

State Police were assisted by the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, the Olive and Shandaken Police Departments and the Olive and Phoenicia Fire Departments.
