A woman from Dutchess County is accused taking advantage of her mother’s illness and stealing thousands of dollars from her.

On Monday, New York State Police at Dover Plains arrested 31-year-old Ann Harris of Dover for third-degree grand larceny, first-degree identity theft, second-degree forgery and third-degree unlawful possession of personal identification information.

The arrest stems from an investigation into a report of larceny and identity theft that was made to State Police last month.

In Dec., the reported stated that Harris’ mother’s bank account had been depleted of thousands of dollars in charges and cash withdrawals.

An investigation determined that Harris had taken advantage of her mother’s illness and incapacitation to seriously drain most of the finances through the fraudulent charges and cash withdrawals, police say.

Harris was arraigned in Town of Dover Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail and $40,000 bond.
