Only Two Mid Hudson High Schools Make Top 100 in State

Two local high schools rank among the top 100 in New York State.

With all of the school districts scattered around the Mid Hudson Region, two seems like a very low number. The list, compiled by niche.com is based on what they classify as a "rigorous analysis" of stats and reviews from parents and students. The rankings also take into consideration a combination of test scores, graduation rates, teacher quality and other key factors.

Many of the top schools are located in and around New York City and the Lower Hudson Valley Region. In the counties of Dutchess, Orange, Sullivan and Ulster only two schools were able to even crack the top 100.

New Paltz Senior High School had the highest ranking in our area, coming in at 67 on the list. The school earned an A+ for quality of teachers, academics, clubs and activities and college readiness. The one non-perfect score was the school's grade for diversity, which was graded as a B-.

Just making the list with a ranking of 96 was Spackenkill High School in Poughkeepsie. The school received an A+ for quality of teachers and Health and Safety. Most other categories received an A except for Diversity, which was graded as a B.
