NYS Winery Lands Coveted Spot on Top 100 List

Every year at the end of November, or beginning of December the magazine Wine Spectator releases a list of what they believe to be the Top 100 wines of the year.

If you are a wine geek, this is a pretty big deal. Whether or not you trust the Wine Spectator ratings system or think that wine ratings are real, this list gives you an idea on what has been a 'big deal' in the wine world for the last year.

Out of the chosen Top 100, it is rare but not uncommon for a New York State wine to be on the list.

The wine that made it to the #31 position on the list is from Forge Cellars Winery in the Finger Lakes area of New York, specifically it is their 2015 Dry Riesling Classique. 

This is the tasting notes from the person that reviewed the wine:

"Weighty for a Riesling, with a rounded feel and layers of creamed yellow apple, white peach and persimmon flavors. Delivers energy and cut throughout, with lemon pith, citrus oil and chamomile accents filling in. Shows length and range through the finish." –James Molesworth
