Women and men at a New York college bared it all and protested topless over police treatment of a student.

Students at Russell Sage College in the Albany area went topless Wednesday in support of a fellow student who identifies herself as androgynous.

The protest stems from and alleged incident on Sunday. A campus security guard approached a sunbathing topless student, Cedar Brock, and asked Brock if she was a boy or girl.

According to the Times Union, Brock responded, "I'm neither I'm androgynous." Brock was born a biological female but doesn’t identify herself as male or female.

Brock refused to put a shirt on. Soon Troy Police were involved and told the student, repeatedly, the city law forbids women from being topless in public. After about 10 minutes, Brock did put on a shirt on.

On Wednesday, Brock was topless on campus again. But this time she was joined by peaceful and topless protesters.

Protesters held signs that read “#IStandWithCedar,” “My Bod My Choice,” “Free the Nipple," and “No Hate in My State.”

Sage College says they are working on a transgender policy and training.

"It's an opportunity for all of us to be better educated about gender nonconforming individuals, and I mean all of us, not just public safety. Faculty, staff, other students, everybody," Russell Sage College Dean Deborah Lawrence told CBS 6 Albany.

"If I have to be a face for something like this I'll be a face for it if it promotes change, if it promotes this amount of support," Brock said to CBS 6 Albany
