A man from New York City was caught using a fake driver’s license while trying to open up a bank account in Dutchess County, authorities said. He later allegedly provided police with a fake name.

On Friday New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Wappinger barracks were sent to a Wells Fargo Bank, located on Main Street in Fishkill, for a fraud complaint.

Police say their investigation revealed that 22-year-old Manfi A. Doukoure tried to fraudulently open a bank account using a counterfeit driver’s license. While being interviewed, Doukoure allegedly provided a false name to the police.

Doukoure was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony, and false personation, a misdemeanor.

Doukoure was arraigned at the Town of Wappinger Court. He was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond. His is scheduled to appear in the Village of Fishkill Court on May 25.

State Police were assisted by the Village of Fishkill Police Department.
