A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for all of the Hudson Valley as the entire region could see up to 16 inches of snow.

Just days after what weather experts call a "historic storm," another major storm is on the way starting tonight and lasting until Thursday morning.

"The month of March can be a beast when it comes to winter storms.  The transition from the bitter chill of winter, to the mild breeze of spring, can bring a LOT of instability with it." Hudson Valley Weather wrote on its website. "The phrase ‘adding insult to injury’ will be rather appropriate for some parts of the Hudson Valley."

According to Hudson Valley Weather, the entire Hudson Valley, minus the Catskills, is going to see 8 to 16 inches of snow. The Catskills is forecasted to receive 7 to 14 inches.

Light snow should develop from west to east from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Light snow will continue to fall until 10 a.m., with the snow coming heavy, up to 1 to 2 inches per hour from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Snow begins to taper off after 8 a.m. and will end near midnight, according to Hudson Valley Weather.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning for Orange, Dutchess, Putnam, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia, Greene, Rockland, and Westchester counties.

The National Weather Service believes the entire Hudson Valley will see 7 to 12 inches of snow, with localized amounts up to 15 inches.

The storm could lead to some snow closing and delays. For the latest information about Hudson Valley snow closings and delays CLICK HERE. Make sure to check this page often as we will continue to update the page with the latest snow closings and delays.
