A Monticello man is accused of keeping drugs, a sword and more inside a home with a young child.

On Tuesday, the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team along with the state police from Liberty arrested 47-year-old Jose Nieves-Herrera, of Monticello for two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both class B felonies, 4th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child, both class A misdemeanors.

During a narcotics investigation, police executed a search warrant at Nieves-Herrera home in Monticello and allegedly found an undisclosed amount of cocaine, a cane sword and money.

Nieves-Herrera was arraigned and remanded to the custody of the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $40,000.00 cash bail.
