A missing Hudson Valley man who was described by police as having a history of addiction was sadly found dead.

Frederick S. Conklin, 56, of Ellenville was last seen on Saturday leaving on foot from a home on Spring Street in Ellenville.

Conklin was believed be in danger and dealt with a history of opiate addiction, officials said. He went over three days without contacting his daughter or family members and failed to pick up his medication at a local pharmacy.

Late Wednesday evening, Ellenville Police canceled the missing alert for Conklin. He was found deceased behind a building on State Route 209 in the Village of Ellenville.

The cause of his death is under investigation.

During the search for Conklin, Ellenville Police were assisted by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Ellenville Rescue Squad, Ellenville Fire Department, and the Ulster County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Our thoughts and prays are with the Conklin family.
