WAPPINGERS FALLS – Mariano Flores, a longtime local area resident, died on Saturday, December 9, 2017. He was 70.
Son of the late Victor and Damasa (Diaz) Flores, he was born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico on October 17, 1947.
He resided in Wappingers Falls since 2011, and formerly lived in Poughkeepsie and Beacon. He worked as a Field Service Engineer for IBM at their Poughkeepsie facility, where he worked for 20 years, retiring in 1998.
Mariano loved playing dominoes, playing lotto, and listening to music (especially Elvis Presley). He was an avid New York Yankees and Mets fan, and frequently watched Jim Carrey movies. He also enjoyed traveling, bowling, and playing baseball & softball. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and joking personality. Above all else, he was the best father and grandfather in the world.
On March 17, 1968, he married Lydia Flores. Lydia survives at home in Wappingers Falls.
Mariano is also survived by his son, Mario Flores & his wife Jaclyn Mandato-Flores of Morgantown, PA; his daughter, Linda Joanne Flores & her husband Juan C. Morales of Port St. Lucie, FL; his daughter, Daisy Marie Flores & her boyfriend Daniel Lichty of Las Vegas, NV; his grandchildren, Gabriel Adrian Soto & his fiancé Shianne Rose Donovan, Giordano Manuel Soto, Evan William Morales, Kenzianna Marie Flores, and Analia Grace Flores; and many other loving relatives & friends. He especially enjoyed hanging out with his best friend, Robert Valdez (“Trooper V”).
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 14 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 15 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 Willow Street, Beacon. Entombment will follow in the Community Mausoleum at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
