Man Dies in Hyde Park Route 9 Accident

One man lost his life, following a fatal one-car crash on Route 9 Wednesday. 

According to the Hyde Park Police Department, the accident occurred around 1:25 pm near Scenic Drive on Route 9.

A single vehicle was traveling in the southbound lane, then crossed into the oncoming lane. The vehicle then left the roadway, hit a rock wall before striking a tree. The vehicle then caught fire.

The only occupant of the vehicle, a male, was killed in the accident. The identity of the male was determined during the crash investigation, but is being withheld pending final determination from the Dutchess County Medical Examiner's Office.
The Hyde Park and Fairview Fire Departments responded to the crash and extinguished the vehicle. the Roosevelt Fire Department assisted with the recovery of the driver, according to the Hyde Park Police Department. The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office also assisted with the crash investigation.
