A Maine man is accused of bringing a number of drugs, including ecstasy, into the local area.

New York State Police from the Livingston barracks arrested 25-year-old Andrew T. Evensen of Poland, Maine, for third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and two counts of unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Around 2:44 p.m. Tuesday, troopers stopped Evensen on State Route 20 in Sullivan County for not allegedly not wearing his seatbelt. A check of Evensen and his car revealed that he was in possession of approximately 20 grams of marijuana, close to .8 grams of marijuana wax, about 21.4 grams of hashish, around 8.3 grams of MDMA, also known as ecstasy, and 1.5 ounces of marijuana salve, police say.

Evensen was arraigned in the Town of New Lebanon Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
