Louise Viani , A Poughkeepsie Resident, Dies at 89

LOUISELouise Viani passed away peacefully on March 10, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late George Viani and Geni Bertolozzi. Louise was employed by the City of Poughkeepsie as Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools for over 50 years. She retired in 1999. She was President of the Poughkeepsie City School District Clerical Association and former member of the Victory Lodge of the Italian Center. Louise had many interests including plants and flowers, traveling abroad, cooking for family and reading a book a day. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and attended parties and events for her extended family frequently. Louise was adored by everyone for her kindness, generosity and dedication to those she loved. She is survived by her brother Alfonso and wife Dolores Viani, brother Joseph and wife Lynn Viani, sister Ann Gorges and brother-in-law Sam Scardaci. She was predeceased by her sister Elisa Scardaci and her brother-in-law, Richard Gorges. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 16, 2017, 4-8 PM at the Wm. G. Miller & Son FH, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will Friday, March 17, 2017 at 10AM in Mt. Carmel Church, 11 Mill St., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
