A local man is behind bars after police say they found a large marijuana growing operation and more drugs inside his home.
On Wednesday around 9 a.m., the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a home on Wildcat Road in the Town of Thompson.

In the basement of the house, sheriff’s deputies found a marijuana growing operation that included around 123 plants, some that had been harvested and were being dried, police say.

Over six pounds of marijuana, Percocet pills and $6,500 were also allegedly found.

The homeowner, 55-year-old Steven Adams was found and arrested inside his home. Adams was charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony, and misdemeanors for unlawfully growing cannabis and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Adams was arraigned in Sullivan County Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Sullivan County Sheriff Mike Schiff commended his Gang Intelligence and Narcotics Unit on the investigation and thanked U.S. Homeland Security Investigations for their assistance.

The search warrant was prepared by the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office.
