Joyce Crew, a Fishkill Resident, Dies at 91

Joyce Crew, a resident of Fishkill, entered into rest Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at her home. She was 91.
Daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth Gardiner Houldsworth, she was born July 11, 1925 in Oldham, England. On June 14, 1947 at Christ Church in Oldham, England she married Thomas Henry Crew. Mr. Crew preceded her in death on August 8, 1986.
Joyce attended the Fishkill United Methodist Church. She was a former volunteer with St. Francis Hospital Woman's Auxiliary at the Nifty Thrifty Shop in Fishkill. Joyce enjoyed ballroom dancing and loved to sing. She also enjoyed traveling. She was known for telling stories about working for the British Government during World War II.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Steven Crew and his wife, Cheri of Lagrangeville; her grandchildren, Dr. Elizabeth R. Crew, Geoffrey A. Crew and his wife, Susan, and Stephanie Crew Calli and her husband, Steven; as well as her great-granddaughter, Chloe Calli.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Linda Joyce Emberton on September 4, 2016 and her sister, June O'Hara.
Family will receive their friends on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 3 to 4 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A 4 p.m. memorial service will follow at the funeral home.
