WAPPINGERS FALLS - Joseph J. Camberato, 83, an area resident since 1997 and formerly of Sleepy Hollow, died suddenly on January 2, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Mount Vernon on February 27, 1934, he was the son of Samuel and Sue (Impara) Camberato. Joseph proudly served our country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was employed as the Golf Course Superintendent at Sleepy Hollow Country Club for 40 years until his retirement in 1997. Joseph was a member of the Golf Course Superintendents’ Association of America, and enjoyed gardening and flowers.

On November 30, 1957 in Mount Vernon, Joseph married Barbara Victore who survives at home. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Jim and Diane Camberato of Lafayette, IN, and Lisa and Jim DePalma of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren, James DePalma, Sam Camberato, Gabrielle Camberato, and Christopher DePalma; his great-grandchildren, Caden Salazar, Carson Allen, and Cameron DePalma; and his sisters, Audrey, Paula and Susan.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-5 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be on Saturday at 11am at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla.
