Joel T. Blauvelt, of the Town of Newburgh formerly of New Paltz entered into rest on Monday, January 8, 2018. He was 73.

Son of the late Raymond and Rosetta (Christopher) Blauvelt, Sr., Joel was born September 27,1944 in Suffern, NY.

A retired senior custodian for the East Ramapo School District in Chestnut Ridge, NY, Joel spent many years working on the family farms both in Chestnut Ridge and New Paltz. He loved woodworking and spent a great deal of time in his wood and metal shop. Joel was known as a wonderful, quiet family man with traditional values. He will be missed by many.

Joel is survived by his sister Emiline Smith of the Town of Newburgh. Additionally, he is survived by a step niece Gail Sterling of New Windsor.

In addition to his parents, Joel is predeceased by a brother Raymond Blauvelt, Jr. and his wife Dwayne, and by longtime friend Barbara McDonald.

Visitation will take place on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at White, Venuto & Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 North Plank Road (Rt. 32), Newburgh, NY. A Funeral Service will take place at the Funeral Home, 10:00 am, Saturday, January 13th with Pastor Joseph Kurry officiating. Burial will follow at the New Paltz Rual Cemetery.
