Javier R. Garcia, 80 of New Windsor, entered into rest on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Piura, Peru on September 10, 1937, he was the son of the late Luis and Rosa (Rodriguez) Garcia. He married Norma (Solari) Garcia on March 27, 1965 in St. Joseph’s Church, New Windsor, where he was a parishioner. Norma survives at home.

Javier emigrated from Piura, Peru at the age of 28. He came to the United States in search of a better life and settled in New Windsor, NY. Javier put his heart and soul into his family, his work, and his home. He was retired from both Ford Motor Company and IBM. Javier was dedicated to whatever endeavor he challenged himself with as there was always a project to be done. Those who knew him best were very aware of how “painstakingly meticulous” he was. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife Norma, he is survived by his daughters, Roxana Sager and her husband Stephen and their children Alexa and Julia of New Windsor, and Vanessa Bowes and her husband Kenneth and their children Evan, Kyle, and Alek of Salisbury Mills; his sister, Teresa Vasquez of New Windsor; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his siblings, Alicia Pardo Figueroa, Carmella Orejuela, Yolanda Garcia, Irma Izquierdo, Luis Garcia Jr. and Gerardo Garcia.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, November 8 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday, November 9 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Newburgh. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
