Janet S. Halsted, 98, formerly of Bedford Village, died on October 31, 2017 at the Maplewood at Danbury.

Born in Passaic, NJ on September 19, 1919, she was the daughter of Charles and Susan (Breslin) Seeger. Janet grew up during the Great Depression, and was the proud wife of a Navy pilot during World War II. Janet was employed as the Dean’s Secretary at Pace University in Pleasantville, and was a member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church.

On September 7, 1942 in Rutherford, NJ, Janet married Byron D. Halsted who died in 2002. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Roger and her husband John of Hopewell Junction, and Ellen Halsted of Phoenix, AZ; her grandchildren, John and Tracy Roger, Bryon and Katie Roger, Kerri Roger, Robin Sue and Charles McKenzie, Lindsay and Evan Lowry, and Lauren and Chris Ramondetta; and her great-grandchildren, Noah, Abigail, Miles, Liam, Amelia, Max, Eimhin, Keane, Thomas and Charlie.

Calling hours will be on Friday from 4-7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A graveside service will be on Saturday at 11am at Hopewell Cemetery, 143 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction.
