Jacqueline D. Melan, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Wednesday, April 12, 2017. She was 91.
Daughter of the late Harold and Blanche Eberth Dolan, she was born December 30, 1925 in New York City. She married Eugene H. Melan on October 19, 1975. Gene preceded her in death on February 24, 2011.
Prior to her retirement, she was the Emergency Room Supervisor at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie. She had been a volunteer at Grinnell Public Library in Wappingers Falls. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends and treasured her time spent traveling. She had a deep love for animals, especially her cocker spaniels. She was a parishioner of St. Martin de Porres Church in Poughkeepsie.
Survivors include her sons, Scott Thompson Stevens of Manhattan and Robert Stevens and his wife, Donna of Rhinebeck. She is also survived by her niece, Marianne Larsen and numerous cousins.
Family will receive their friends Monday, April 17, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18 at St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Road in Poughkeepsie. Entombment will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Avenue, Poughkeepsie.
