Match. eHarmony. Bumble. Hinge. Tinder. Plenty of Fish. Coffee Meets Bagel.

These are just a list of some of the online dating apps that many singles around the world and Hudson Valley are using. According to Business Insider in 2016 the percentage of adults using dating apps had tripled.

With new dating apps being created what feels like every day, I'm sure now in 2018 the number is even higher.

Dating apps are the new meeting at a bar. They're easy, accessible and probably free.

For those who use dating apps, you know how fun it could be to get caught up with swiping left and right, but when it comes down to actually going on the dates it's a little nerve-wracking.

It also could be dangerous.

Highspeedinternet.com and Safewise put together a list of the Safest and Most Dangerous States for Online Dating. The sites took statistics from "violent crime, cybercrime, gonorrhea, and chlamydia and comparing them to population estimates."

Unfortunately, New York falls as one of the more dangerous states to partake in online dating. Luckily, we're not number one on the list. A graph shows that New York holds 4.08% of Total Incidents Per Capita.

For all you online daters out there, be safe.
