Hudson Valley Woman Accused of Killing Mother

A Hudson Valley woman was charged with killing her mother.

The Ellenville Police Department, along with New York State Police, the Ulster County Sheriff Department, and Ulster County District Attorney’s Office are investigating a homicide that happened on Warren Street in the Village of Ellenville Saturday morning.

Mari Gilbert 52, of Ellenville was found dead inside a Warren Street apartment around 2:15 p.m. Saturday. Shortly after, Ellenville Police located and arrested Mari’s daughter, 27-year-old Sarra Elizabeth Gilbert, of Ellenville.

Police say Sarra lives at the apartment where her mother was found dead. Sarra was charged with 2nd-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

She was remanded to Ulster County Jail on no bail. She’s due in court on Tuesday.

Police say the investigation is ongoing. More information is expected to be released.
