A Hudson Valley teen is accused of driving while under the influence of drugs and with a child in his car.

On Friday just before 9:30 p.m., members of the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office pulled over a car on Main Street in the Town of Wawarsing for alleged erratic driving.

An investigation revealed the driver, a 16-year-old male from Kerhonkson, was driving with his ability impaired by drugs and with a child in the car, police say.

The 16-year-old was charged with of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle under Leandra’s Law, a felony, driving while impaired by drugs and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors. The teen also received a number of vehicle and traffic violations.

The boy was arrested and transported to the Wawarsing Substation. He was arraigned by the Town of Marbletown Justice Court and released on his own recognizance.

Because of the boy’s age, his name is not being released.
