Hudson Valley ‘Taylor Swift’ Performing Locally Friday

A 12-year-old girl who Simon Cowell compared to Taylor Swift is performing live in the local area on Friday.

Grace VanderWaal is scheduled to perform at the Palisades Credit Union Park in Pomona on Friday. The Suffern resident will be joined by Granger Smith and Earl Dibbles Jr.

The 12-year-old shocked and blew away the judges last month on America’s Got Talent when she sang an original song with a Ukulele.

Before her goose-bump inducing performance, the young singer told the judges that most of her friends didn’t even know that she sings. When asked if she thought she could win the competition she said “miracles can happen, so possibly.”

After her performance, Vanderwaal received a standing ovation from the entire crowd, judges Heidi Klum, Howie Mandell, and even the hard to please Cowell.

Mandel sent the young singer through to the live semi-finals and Cowell called her “the next Taylor Swift.”
