A registered sex offender from the Hudson Valley is accused of owning child porn.

New York State Police at Wurtsboro charged 65-year-old Gerard T. Colbert from Wurtsboro for possessing a sexual performance by a child, a felony.

Colbert, a Level 2 registered sex offender, moved from New Hampshire to Sullivan County last year. Colbert was placed on probation through Sullivan County in February. In late March, Sullivan County Probation visited Colbert’s Wurtsboro home.

During the home visit, Colbert was found to be in violation of the terms and conditions of his probation, police say. Sullivan County Probation requested assistance with the investigation from the State Police. Troopers arrived and arrested Colbert.

A further investigation by the New York State Police Troop F Computer Crimes Unit revealed Colbert was allegedly in possession of child pornography.

Colbert was remanded to Sullivan County Jail on $50,000 bail.
