A registered Hudson Valley sex offender lured three children into sending him nude photos.

On Thursday in Southern District of New York Court, Robert Garneau, 23, of Warwick was sentenced to 16 years in prison for luring three minors into sexual activity. The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to three counts of enticement of a minor in May 2017.

Garneau, a registered sex offender, communicated with three children online via Instagram and KIK and convinced them to send him nude photos, prosecutors say.

“Robert Garneau’s crimes are the nightmare of every modern parent,” Manhattan U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman said in a press release. “Using everyday social media websites, Garneau exploited minors for his own sexual gratification.”

Garneau posed as a child and told the children that if they didn’t send him more nude photos or videos, they would be arrested for the photos or videos they already sent.

Garneau also threatened to show the nude media to one of the victim’s Instagram followers.

In addition to the prison term, Garneau was sentenced to 15 years of supervised release.
