The Hudson Valley once claimed to have built the longest ice cream sundae in the world. That title has now fallen to a new record holder.

The Guinness Book of World Records has confirmed that an ice cream sundae made in Michigan is the longest ever.

The sundae was created this summer and measured just under 3,000 feet, which is almost a half mile. The House of Flavors in Ludington was credited by the Associated Press as creating the record breaking sundae, which almost doubles the record that was set in the Hudson Valley in 2014.

Boice Bros Dairy in Kingston set the record in 2014 by whipping up a sundae that was 1,606 ft long. 800 volunteers worked together to make the sundae which served over 5,000 people. The record was a celebration of Boice Bros 100th anniversary.

In 2015 the record was broken by a team from New Zealand who created a sundae that was just over 300 feet longer than the Hudson Valley record.

The new winners shouldn't be too comfortable, however. The Associated Press reports that a creamery in Nashville claims to have made a sundae that's 3,656 feet long in September.
