Hudson Valley Prison Guard Pleads Guilty to Raping Inmate

A woman working in the Hudson Valley as a prison guard plead guilty to raping an inmate.

In Westchester County Court, 35-year-old Evita Hinds, of Queens plead guilty to one count of 3rd-degree rape, a felony.

Hinds was employed as a corrections office by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and was assigned to Sing Sing Correctional Facility.

On May 30, 2015, Hinds engaged in sexual intercourse with a victim while inside the officer’s station inside the housing block.

Officials say the sexual intercourse occurred at a time when the victim was incapable of consent by virtue of his being an inmate committed to the care and custody of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.

Hinds is out on bail. She faces 1 to 4 years in prison when sentenced on Oct. 11.
