A Hudson Valley man’s bid to flee police in a stolen car was thwarted after he hit an officer’s vehicle and then a pole, authorities said.

New York State Police at Highland charged 24-year-old Cyle A. Olsen of Marlboro with second-degree burglary, third-degree grand larceny, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, fleeing police and reckless endangerment.

Early Tuesday, State Police began an investigation into a stolen vehicle from Marlboro. Olsen was spotted by authorities in the alleged stolen car in Crawford. He then is accused of leading officials on a high speed chase throughout Ulster County.

During the chase, Olsen hit an Ulster County Sheriff’s Deputy's cruiser and then a telephone pole in New Paltz, officials said.

Olsen was arraigned in the Town of New Paltz Court. He was sent to Ulster County Jail without bail and is due to return to the Town of New Paltz Court at a later date.
