He told police he was in Myrtle Beach to attend a wedding after he was arrested for allegedly assaulting an Uber driver.

Myrtle Beach Online reports that Justin James Cardascia was taken into custody by police after theysay he got into a fight with his Uber driver in front of the Mr. Fish seafood restaurant in Myrtle Beach.

The Uber driver told police that he and Cardascia got into an altercation after picking up the 28-year-old Poughkeepsie man at Mr. Fish just before 2 am on Sunday. Cardascia allegedly told the driver he wanted to cancel the ride and then claimed the driver almost hit him with the vehicle while driving away.

The Uber driver says he stopped his vehicle after someone threw a lit cigarette into the back seat. After stopping to remove the cigarette, Cardascia allegedly charged at the driver, pushing him into the car and repeatedly punching him in the back of the head while yelling.

 

The driver locked himself in the car and dialed 911. That's when he says the Poughkeepsie wedding guest started to violently kick the car, breaking off the door handle.

Police arrested Cardascia and charged him with third-degree assault and battery and damage to property.
