Police arrested a man they say is responsible for a number of home break-ins. Chainsaws and a guitar were reported stolen by homeowners.

Friday, State Police at Liberty arrested 23-year-old Erik Jacobsen, of Parksville, after an investigation into a residential burglary reported in late May and a larceny from in early June.

On May 20, a Livingston Manor resident reported that a Fender electric guitar was stolen after someone broke into the home. On June 3, a different homeowner in Livingston Manor reported several chainsaws were stolen from their property.

An investigation by the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation determined that Jacobsen was responsible for both thefts. Police say Jacobsen was still in possession of the stolen electric guitar.

Jacobsen was charged with burglary, a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor. He was arraigned in the Town of Rockland Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $30,000 cash bail.
