A Hudson Valley man was arrested for allegedly stealing a car.

Sunday, the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested Jeanmarc Whitehall, 22, of Fallsburg after he was allegedly found in a reported stolen vehicle.

Police say they spotted Whitehall in possession of a 2009 Mercury Milan, which was reported stolen from New York City, at a hotel parking lot in Liberty. Whitehall is accused of giving authorities a fake name to conceal his identity.

Officials later allegedly discovered crystal methamphetamine inside the reported stolen car.

Whitehall was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and criminal impersonation, misdemeanors.

Whitehall was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $1,500 bail.
