If you want to have the most epic fall, follow the Hudson Valley Fall Bucket List.

The first day of fall 2018 is Saturday 22 and the foliage is already turning into the beautiful ombre of fall colors. The Hudson Valley and Catskill region is known for their beautiful foliage. You've definitely gone out of the area and had someone say "Oh the Hudson Valley? It's just beautiful in the fall." Or some variation of that.

But it's true, the foliage is gorgeous around here. If you're looking for some new spots to check it out, or just forgot about old favorites. I'm here to help.

Shawangunk Mountains Scenic Byway
T
his highway spans 88 miles, so if you want a marathon of foliage take this gorgeous drive. It winds through and near the Shawangunk mountains.

Walkway Over The Hudson
It's an obvious choice but taking a look at the foliage down the Valley from up above is a sight like no other. Ride a bike, take a walk, enjoy the views.

Mohonk Mountain House
So I know you have to pay to go here, but the views are insane, for all the right reasons. Might be worth the splurge.

Taconic State Parkway
For a commute, this highway is absolute garbage. For fall foliage, this road is hard to beat. I personally like travelling South on the Taconic towards Westchester because it opens up the further South you go, but Northbound is also beautiful.

Storm King Art Center
I always forget about Storm King Art Center and I don't know why. Not only is the concept awesome, but seeing great art with a beautiful Hudson Valley fall background? Can't be beat.

Besides great roads and landmarks, the Hudson Valley also has a variety of amazing hikes to really be one with the foliage:

Mount Beacon
The hike is well worth the view. Pack a lunch and go all the way to the top to gaze over the beautiful Hudson Valley.

Breackneck Ridge
Just like Mount Beacon, this hike is worth it. A little further South into the Hudson Valley, right outside of Cold Spring, Breackneck is absolutely gorgeous.

Minnewaska State Park
Everyone knows Minnewaska for a reason. The falls and the foliage are incredible to see at the peak of the season

Bear Mountain
Bear Mountain is great to see the foliage because this is another thing you can make the day out of. There are usually events going on at the Mountain each weekend, like Oktoberfest.

Sugarloaf Mountain
Double the elevation of Mount Beacon but nearly the same prominence, this Catskill Mountain has views worth the altitude.

Lemon Squeeze
This hike in New Paltz is one of my favorites in the Hudson Valley region. And the view over the Shawangunk Mountains is breathtaking.
