It's time to break out the old Simple Plan t-shirt, studded belt and girl jeans. It's Emo Night this Friday at Newburgh Brewing Company.

DJs will be spinning tunes from bands like Blink 182, Taking Back Sunday and Dashboard Confessional starting at 10pm. DJ Junior along with special guest Alexa Carrington will be helping you reminisce about that really bad hair cut and how scene you were. They're expecting a packed house so it's probably a good idea to show up early anyways. Just a $5 cover gets you in the door.

But what is emo? The Webster Dictionary describes it as "a style of rock music influenced by punk rock and featuring introspective and emotionally fraught lyrics." Wikipedia has a pretty good run down of the history of emo if you have a few extra minutes for some research.

Newburgh Brewing Company is the home of WRRV Sessions, our monthly live music series sponsored by Healey Brothers. We'll be announcing our next bands soon, in the meantime here's Simon's recent conversation with Jared and Duddy B from Dirty Heads.
